Cameron Spending Her Weekend with the World

It might not be quite as fun as helping convince Sarah Silverman that Jimmy Kimmel is f--ing Ben Affleck, but Cameron Diaz figures this cause is just as worthy of her time.

The actress will be joining fellow golden girls Meg Ryan and Goldie Hawn in Los Angeles on Saturday to take part in Pangea Day, a film festival intended to promote unity and tolerance by shedding light on different cultures and the issues endemic to particular spots around the globe.

"We all share the same planet and we only have one of 'em, and the more that we know about each other and the more that we tell each other about ourselves, the more liknesses we see that we have," Diaz says in a PSA promoting the event. "Storytelling is age-old, something we've done since the beginning of man—it's how we relate to each other...Because we are a global tribe, that storytelling must expand to be inclusive to everyone."

Other live screenings will be taking place in London; Cairo; Kigali, Rwanda; Mumbai, India and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while the rest of us can catch webcasts streaming on the event's website or watch on TV (check your local listings).

Lisa Ling is one of the hosts and musical performers will include Live 8 visionary Bob Geldof and the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart.

'What Happens In Vegas' reviews
Posted on 09 May 2008 by Pisklak | 0 Comments
Here are some critics' reviews about 'What Happens in Vegas', check them out:

Chicago Tribune, Matt Pais: Joy (Cameron Diaz), a marriage-hungry woman on the rebound, and Jack (Ashton Kutcher), an unemployed, commitment-phobic slacker, get plastered, get married and win $3 million in Sin City. The legal system says they've gotta stick it out as cohabiting man and wife for six months if they want to claim the money, but instead of making the best of things the pair bickers constantly and schemes to force the other into forfeiting the marriage and his or her share of the dough. full review

E! Online, Dezhda Gaubert: Goofy cuties Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher are equally matched in a rom-com nicely suited to their sparkly eyed qualities. What Happens In Vegas is about as silly and pleasant as it needs to be, no more, no less. full review

Entertainment Weekly, Owen Gleiberman: Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz hate on each other with dynamite verve in What Happens in Vegas. The Punch and Judy fireworks get off to an early start, when the two wake up in Las Vegas only to learn that they got hitched during what should have been a sloshed one-night stand. To lay claim to a $3 million slot-machine payoff (one pulled the lever, the other provided the quarter), the two are forced to live together for six months as husband and wife, and I would say that the romantic hilarity just ensues from there, except that Kutcher and Diaz diss each other with such eye-rolling, fang-baring, sexually sarcastic conviction that you may think you've wandered into a dinner-theater revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? starring (and rewritten by) Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman. full review

Hollywood Reporter, Kirk Honeycutt: A mean-spirited streak is creeping into studio-manufactured rom-coms these days -- you know, where someone wants to sabotage his best friend's wedding. This escalates in Fox's "What Happens in Vegas," a film that views marriage as a combat sport. full review

Kutcher: 'Diaz is fitter than me'
Posted on 07 May 2008 by Pisklak | 0 Comments
Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher struggled to keep up with his What Happens In Vegas co-star Cameron Diaz on the set of the movie - as she is much fitter than him.

The 30-year-old vowed to start a healthy new exercise regime ahead of working with the Shrek star, as he had heard the actress was a keen gym-goer. But Kutcher was still amazed by Diaz's high level of fitness when the pair finally met and admits her athletic abilities put him to shame.

He says, "Before I started the movie I worked out with a trainer because I couldn't have my leading lady be in better shape than me.

"Cameron gave me such a tough time. She'd say, 'Are you still working out? Because I already worked out hard this morning.'"

And Kutcher insists that all the fight scenes in the movie are real, and Diaz was more than able to hold her own. He adds, "She's a tough chick. She went for it - it wasn't fake. I got beaten up a little bit, but not too badly."

Posted on 06 May 2008 by Pisklak | 0 Comments
Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz has given up her search for the perfect man - she is convinced he doesn't exist.

The blonde beauty has dated a string of eligible men over the years including Matt Dillon, Jared Leto and Justin Timberlake.
But the 35-year-old has yet to find the perfect partner to settle down with, and she has been forced to admit she may never find a man to spend the rest of her life with.

She says, "You're always told he has to look like this and this is how he exists in all the storybooks - but it doesn't always come in those packages.
"And people are not always what they seem to be. I was really a big fairy-tale girl when I was growing up."

Asked what her dad meant to her, she said: "It's one of those things."You don't really sum it up in a few words. "I think we're just so fortunate as a family to have the family that we have."

Her voice cracking, she said: "My father obviously, he was Dad."Oil company foreman Emilio Diaz died unexpectedly from pneumonia on April 15 at the age of 58.

She recently revealed that she is planning to use a private screening of What Happens in Vegas to help her family with their grieving process.

Cameron Diaz bows out of 'Vegas' press junket due to dad's death
Posted on 01 May 2008 by Pisklak | 1 Comments
Bad news for journalists hoping to talk to Cameron Diaz at this weekend's L.A. junket for "What Happens in Vegas."

The studio let some journalists know Wednesday night that Cameron Diaz is bowing out of the junket. Sources say that due to the sudden passing of Cameron’s father, the actress is simply is not ready to do press at this time.

Can't say I blame the poor girl. The loss of a father -- or any parent -- is beyond devastating and she will need time to come to grips with it. Who would want to answer the inevitable lame and torturous questions about the movie, romance, gambling, luck and, oh yeah, how she feels about her dad's death?

All print interviews have been canceled for Ashton Kutcher and Cameron, who were skedded to do duet chats. But Ashton and Rob Cordry (who plays Ashton’s best friend “Hater” in the film) may do some domestic and international press interviews together.

Cameron had previously canceled attendance at the London premiere of the film. Filming on her new movie, "My Sister's Keeper," was also suspended immediately after her dad's death. But it's not known if shooting has resumed.

Cameron Diaz Writes a Letter to Her Fans
Posted on 28 Apr 2008 by Pisklak | 2 Comments
"First of all I want to thank all of you for your support over the years.

"So many films, so many weekends discussing films. I was really looking forward to this weekend getting to talk to my friends about a film that I am so proud of.

"Due to the loss of my father I have chosen to be with my family this weekend. But it was important for me to convey to all of you how much I love this film. We really did have the best time, most fun and laughs making it. I know that the stories Ashton, Rob [Corddry] and [Director] Tom [Vaughan] share with you will illustrate that point. I was fortunate to work with a group of truly gifted individuals that share the common denominator of a generous heart and wickedly sick sense of humor.

"This weekend I am screening What Happens in Vegas for my family. It was a unanimous decision that we all needed to share a good laugh. After all that's why we make films like these. So people can leave behind their worries for a couple of hours. Have a good laugh.

"I picture all of your smiles and it makes me happy.

"Thank you for your continued support. It is much appreciated.

"Cameron."

As Cameron Diaz continues to observe the mourning period following the April 15 death of her father Emilio, Ashton Kutcher and others associated with her new movie, What Happens in Vegas, met with the press in Los Angeles on Saturday – and delivered a written message from Diaz herself.

In her own hand on her personalized stationery, Diaz wrote in copies that were provided to journalists: "First of all I want to thank all of you for your support over the years."

She also said, "I was really looking forward to thus weekend getting to talk to my friends about a film I am so proud of," but, citing "the loss of my Father, I have chosen to be with my family this weekend."

Praising the comedy (it opens May 9) in which she and Kutcher play combative newlyweds battling over a $3 million slot-machine payoff, Diaz said, "It was important to me to convey to all of you how much I love this film. We really did have the best time ... most fun and laughs making it."

Family Screening
On a private note, she wrote, "This weekend I am screening What Happens In Vegas for my family. It was a unanimous decision that we all needed to share a good laugh. After all that's why we make films like these. So people can leave behind their worries for a couple of hours. Have a good laugh."

In closing, she said, "I picture all of your smiles and it makes me happy. Thank you for your continued support. It is much appreciated." Under a hand-drawn heart, she signed off with, "Cameron."

Kutcher, who represented Diaz and the movie at last week's London premiere, told PEOPLE on Saturday that he has personally expressed his condolences. "Not to her family," he said, "but I've talked to Cameron."

Emilio Diaz, 58, succumbed to post-influenza MRSA pneumonia, an aggressive staph infection that can occur in all ages and in otherwise healthy people, his family said Wednesday in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE.

"His love for laughter was undeniable and he embraced life head-on in such a dynamic way that he was impossible to forget," they added.

Ashton Kutcher was lost for words when he first met "hot" Cameron Diaz. The 30-year-old actor, who stars alongside Cameron in new comedy What Happens in Vegas, was overwhelmed by the blonde beauty when he first laid eyes on her. He said: "I saw her backstage at some awards show probably around seven years ago and I was like, 'Woah! She is hot!' She was funny too. I thought, 'Wow, this is a really hot, funny person.'

"I was really enamoured. So much so that I wasn't able to make words. When I tried to talk to her I just made noises and then I walked away." Ashton also revealed Cameron's enthusiasm was infectious on the set of the romantic comedy about two drunken strangers who get married in Las Vegas.

He added to Bang Showbiz: "There is something about her. It doesn't matter who else is around, she is the happiest person there. She sees that glass so half full it might be spilling over the top. She makes your life better just by being around her." On Monday night, Ashton revealed Cameron is receiving "medical attention" following the death of her father Emilio.

He said: "She has just lost her father and is under medical attention with stress at the moment. But she will be better soon. I will be telling her of your get well soon wishes and condolences following her father's passing on."

Cameron Diaz and Gerard Butler double date with Reese and Jake
Posted on 10 Apr 2008 by Pisklak | 0 Comments
Cameron Diaz and Gerard Butler enjoyed a double date with Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal last weekend. The foursome met at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont hotel just after midnight for a very late dinner, laughing and joking together into the early hours.

A source said: "They arrived at 12.30am and grabbed a table on the patio. Cameron snuggled up to Gerard and rested her head on his shoulder. Jake and Reese were really cute together too, joking a lot and just very comfortable with each other." Cameron - who has reportedly enjoyed a string of dates with Scottish 300 star Gerard over the past fortnight - entertained the group as they drank red wine with their appetisers and main courses.

The source added to Life and Style Weekly magazine: "Cameron was the centre of attention. Reese threw in an occasional wisecrack, but Cameron was really on a roll." However, while Cameron and Gerard were happy to let the world know they were an item, Reese and Jake - who met on the set of Rendition last year - remained more reserved.

The insider said: "Cameron and Gerard held hands under the table, but Reese and Jake were slightly less affectionate."
